Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

Cubital_tunnel1

Cubital tunnel syndrome involves the ulnar nerve at the elbow.  The ulnar nerve runs down the inner or medial part of the elbow.  The ulnar nerve runs behind a groove in the bone.  It is in this area where the ulnar nerve gets compressed and causes the symptoms.

Symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome, or ulnar nerve compression at the elbow often cause symptoms such as pain, numbness, and tingling in the distribution of the ulnar nerve in the hand and wrist.

The ulnar nerve, which is compressed in cubital tunnel syndrome, runs down the course of the entire upper extremity.  It starts in the area of the axilla, or armpit, and runs all the way down to the hand.

The ulnar nerve runs behind the inner or medial part of the elbow.  There is a groove at the medial epicondyle, behind which the ulnar travels.  It is in this general area where the ulnar nerve typically gets compressed in cubital tunnel syndrome.  This compression can cause very significant symptoms and dysfunction.
